Military life presents with many challenges for both the active-duty service member and their spouse as well as any children they may have. Long separations from deployment, redeployment, long duty hours, TDYs, and the return back home can be stressful for all. Reintegration back home and back into family life, the changes that the spouse at home encounters upon the return of the deployed spouse, a change in duties once back at the assigned duty station, children having to change schools and make new friends, all present with unique challenges among military families. While the active-duty spouse wears the uniform and serves, the spouse at home is serving right along with them as they remain home to keep the home fires burning and face all the responsibilities at home alone. While there are many supports in place on every military base sometimes families are reluctant to reach out for help. This can all lead to a variety of mental health issues to include anxiety, depression, and loneliness that leads to hopelessness and helplessness. Having been on both sides of the fence myself as both an active-duty service member and the wife of an active-duty service member, I understand the challenges. If you are a military service member or spouse and are struggling with the challenges of military life, please reach out to me today and see how I may help.
